I was contacted via email to come onsite ASAP for an interview, as they were trying to fill the position ASAP. I interviewed with 3 people overall for 3+ hours. Everyone seemed nice enough. However during the interview, I was informed that there was up to 40% travel. No travel was mentioned in the job description - that is very important! I also was asked if I had young children at home or any other restrictions with travel. I'm pretty sure that asking a candidate if s/he has children is considered discriminatory, but it was asked by the owner of this privately owned company so his rules are his rules I guess. The company sounded in need of organization and a bit fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants. I was told by the hiring manager that a decision would be made within a week and I would hear from her then. I never heard anything, and I was disappointed that a quick email couldn't be sent to let me know another candidate was chosen after I had spent nearly 4 hours for an impromptu interview.
