My job is somewhat specialized, and they wouldn't have talked to me if they didn't already know I was basically qualified. I had already been contracting in a similar capacity for them. I had multiple phone conversations with the team lead, as well as several with his lead (which confused me), then a final interview with some top brass. It annoyed me only that I had to wait so long for an offer; I finally put pressure on them to offer me something. I knew I was in a good position to negotiate, because I had skills they needed and were having a hard time getting.
