I had a 30 minute conversation with the hiring manager and did not have time to ask questions about the company. When I followed up via email they outright refused to answer basic questions about compensation until I completed one of the larger take home assignments that I have encountered.

30ish minute call with a Co-Founder and Manager. I felt the call went great. Spent about 8 hours on a take home assignment. No feedback given, not sure what criteria it was being judged on. In retrospect, I should have clarified what they were looking for in a submission. I would have appreciated the opportunity to review the code with a team member, or receive some feedback. The team did get back to me with a definitive answer in the timeframe they provided (no real reason given), but I do appreciate not being ghosted, so kudos there.
