One of the more bizarre interview experiences I've had. The recruiter reached out to set up time - I show up, on time to the Zoom call. 5 minutes goes by, I send a note. Another 10-15 go by and I let them know that I am no longer interested. Eventually, I get a call from the recruiter saying their "power had gone out" (calling me from a working cell phone with service...) and they rushed to set up a new time. Fast forward to the new time which they are 5 minutes late for. They immediately tell me they had pulled the salary as they needed to seek clarification on what compensation would look like and that this role was more "junior." They back this up by saying the role only asked for "2 years of experience" .. well.. 2 years of AI implementation experience.. not 2 years of experience in total. This then gets a bit weirder as they go on to explain that this role reports into a marketing lead who is 4 years out of college. I'm then told that my lack of Clay experience could be a disqualifier and that "I'm the one who applied and the description is clear." Well, I'm not the one who set up the interview. When I have 10 years of deep technical experience, being unfamiliar with something as simple as Clay would not lend to being a disqualifier (assuming the recruiter and leads are tech literate). Most bizarre interview experience I've had in nearly 10 years of working in tech.
