First was the phone interview which took about 3 minutes, during which time it became obvious that they hadn't even read my online application responses or resume.
Group Assessment Day - There was 18 of us. It is as others have described. They spend tie talking about the company and showing a few videos. You have to write down 3 things you learnt about the company from the video they send you. Then people say their points and they get talked about.
Eventually it is the sell your partner. The room split into two groups and you have to present your partner to the group and assessor (they want to know travel experience, career goals and customer experience). Judging by who got through to the final stage, your skills and pitch here aren't too important.
Next is the Maths and Geography/one on one. The Maths is pretty straight forward, just make sure you read the questions properly (I screwed up 1 because I misread it). The calculator even has a % button on it. The geography you need to know capitals of: France, Japan, Canada, Australia, Malaysia (that's all I can remember). You need to label Paris, London and Rome on a map. Know your oceans - need to say where Fiji is and what oceans surrounded Aus. Airlines: NZ, Canada, Italy, Britain and that's all I can remember. Rivers in Europe: choose from Loire, Volge, Danube, Murray, Nile and Mekong. Travel: London, Paris and New York - Underground, Metro, Subway. Biggest sand island in Aus: Hamilton Island, Fraser Island, Kangaroo Island. What city would your plan land in to get to Barossa. Australian beaches: Malibu, Waikiki, Whitsundays, Cable Beach, Moolooaba (spelling) and somewhere else obvs not Australian. Where is: Caesar's Palace, Pyramids of Giza, Lake Tapou, Colosseum, Stonehenge and Maccu Picchu. In what city would you find the golden gate bridge? What is the main shopping/casino street in Vegas known as? (The Strip). You circle what the picture is of: Canals of Venice, Taj Mahal and Statue of Liberty. 3 Aus national landmarks. That is all I can remember, not much more than that/if any on the test though.
One on one: It is like everyone has said. You can prepare but once you get in there you get nervous and stuff. I had it all planned in my head but it didn't go that way. However, I beat her online price and got a deposit. It is a bit ridiculous because you can't really act this out as you would in a store, You'd get time to write things down and research and obviously do a better job in store rather than in an interview. There are 2 interviews going on in the same room. From what I heard/saw the interviewer would sit down but mine didn't and then asked if she could sit which obvs meant points off. My customer declined insurance, which I guess I was meant to convince her to get but given the time constraints and nerves, I didn't push it.
Lunch/cut time. I didn't make it to the next round, which I was fine with because I wasn't sure about the job but also in a rage about after talking to the people around me, who got through. They thought the Nile was in Europe, Sydney for Barossa, Waikiki was in Aus, capital of Malaysia is Bangkok, Europe is a country and that Air New Zealand is New Zealand. The people around me that got through didn't even get their customers to leave a deposit. I admit, the sales pitch would have been my downfall because I was so nervous and forgot things but still, they don't even know geography! Also, other people around me did a bid job in the Maths (eg. 15% of $150 is $70? Uh huh. And a cancellation means no refund so you waste $75 but no, that doesn't count according to those people). Yes, I sound bitter but it's because job interviews are slaying me right now and the fact that people who obviously suck at maths and geography got through.
As another person has noted, majority of the people got through were young and blonde (all the blondes got through, along with a few token brunettes and an older person) I have no faith in this whole recruitment process after what I experienced. What a load of BS.
