      Jasmine reached out to me on LinkedIn to initiate the recruiting process. She was professional and prompt in getting back to me. I do not come from this industry so it was a long shot from the beginning. A few days after my recruiter call I received a rejection email. I will say that Jasmine did ask some more in depth questions for a recruiter call, questions that a hiring manager typically dives into. The interview process, as described to me, consists of 1. Recruiter call 2. Hiring Manager 3. Head of Product 4. Meet with two other peers 5. Paid case study/presentation

      Recruiter Screen, Hiring Manager, three 1:1 PM Interviews (VP Product, Commerce PM, Growth PM), then a paid take home assignment (2-3 hours suggested) followed by a panel presentation interview with all interviewers plus a member from product design. This was hands down the best candidate experience I've had in some time. Which makes me that much more bummed I didn’t secure an offer. Jasmine stands out as a top-notch recruiter and made the process a delight from beginning to end. Such a refreshing contrast to this highly competitive job market where candidates get ghosted left and right. Also, the fact that Flodesk pays for the take home assignment is truly exceptional - the sentiment is appreciated and left me with such a positive impression of Flodesk. It’s such an effective differentiator for employers and left me wanting to go the extra mile in the interview process. Sadly for me, I went the extra mile in the wrong direction 😆 I had used a deck template that worked well for me in previous product interview presentations. I added visuals throughout my presentation with the intention of keeping the presentation fun and engaging. But I received feedback that the visual components were distracting from the content (valid but also subjective to Flodesk - I had not received this feedback before). Hence my biggest regret is not workshopping with the hiring manager as soon as I got the prompt. By the time we synced it was only to review my presentation rather than to prep by understanding what content will resonate best with the team. I would’ve been able to clarify all my assumptions and truly believe I would’ve had a different outcome. Tldr; Focus presentation purely on the content and solutions. Do not spend extra time creating wireframes or data workflows. Take the prompt very literally - answer the listed questions, develop thoughtful solutions, and avoid adding extra context. Hope this helps anyone going through the process now!

      Typical phone screen from HR. However, they asked too many deep questions that should have really been asked by the hiring manager. Feels like a subtle bias to hire only people from one particular gender. Must work with an overseas development team who speaks poor/zero English, and with hours that don’t match US hours. Was treated respectfully on the outside, but ultimately not genuinely caring about what I as a candidate need or want.
