The initial phone conversation was an early screening step in our hiring process before deciding who to invite for an in-person interview. Initial phone screenings are intended to assess mutual fit and determine next steps in the process, rather than serve as the stage for negotiating compensation. Mileage reimbursement was clearly communicated in writing as following CRA standard rates, which in 2023 were $0.68/km for the first 5,000 km and $0.62/km thereafter. Since 2023, our hiring process has evolved into a more structured multi-step process, with compensation, role expectations, and interview stages discussed as clearly as possible throughout. While we understand that not every candidate will feel aligned with our process, we remain committed to respectful and transparent communication.
