Google’s interview process is fairly structured and designed to assess technical ability, problem-solving, and culture fit. While details vary by role (software engineer, product manager, data scientist, etc.), the overall flow is usually as follows:

“Tell me about a time you faced a difficult problem and how you solved it.”
At Google, this question often blends problem-solving + ownership + impact. They’re less interested in what the problem was and more in:
• how you broke it down,
• how you made trade-offs,
• how you handled ambiguity,
• and what the outcome was.
