Saw a post on a site for writers advising that this magazine was looking for freelance book reviewers. Emailed the company with my resume and portfolio link. No response. After a week, I emailed a reminder, to which the company responded, sorry, I was busy, we'd love to have you as a reviewer, write us a sample review. Which I did and sent it to them. No response. Sent another reminder after a week or so. Again, no response, and that's where we stand. Absolutely ghosted, after not-insignificant effort on my part. This is unprofessional and, on a human level, just plain rude. I can only imagine the working situation would be similar, and totally not worth the hassle for $55 per review.
