Had an initial interview with the CEO and a couple other employees. They mostly asked questions to get to know my background and experience. However the red flag and dealbreaker for me was when the CEO tried to gather my marital status during the interview.
CEO: "Where are you located?"
Me: "Austin"
CEO: "Are you married?"
I was taken back by being asked that since I knew that was an inappropriate question to ask. I gathered that they were asking because they wanted to know my willingness to relocate to Dallas, but they did so in the most inappropriate way. I believe they had good, innocent enough intentions but they really need to be more careful since a question like this can not only makes candidates uncomfortable but it also could make things problematic for them from a legal standpoint. I told them that I'd politely decline further interviews with this company.
