Entrevista
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I received a phone call from the Hiring Manager in June 2018. In about 40 minutes she went over resume and skills and asked about challenges about working there.
Several days after applying, I had a phone interview with an HR person from their head office (about 15 minutes). Standard easy resume questions, but she did make me state a salary requirement. One week later I had an in-person interview with the head of the location I was applying to. I was asked a lot about professional use of social media and experience with video editing & creating video tutorials, but very little about reference experience (even though that was a main job duty) or other librarian experience. I noticed that their reference desk seemed more like a receptionist desk, placed right by the front door & outside the actual library space. I was also given to a co-worker who asked me several questions about how I interact with co-workers & help out around the office. The in-person interview was about an hour and a half and about two months later I was rejected. I had to fill out a form with the contact info for my last few jobs, so make sure to have that with you.

I was asked about my professional experience with video editing, which was hard to answer because I didn't have much at the time.

Someone called me to request an interview and the person told me if I had some time to talk. I replied I was walking in a busy street and I can call back in a few minutes. She said that's fine but she failed to give me her extension number, she just told me her name, which I didn't hear very well. When I called the number back later, I had a difficult time at first using the directory to find the person that called me. The interview was scheduled for a week later, but they decided not to interview me after I spent 1 hr there because I failed to detect 7 errors in a document as part of a proofreading exercise, the maximum allowed was 5. Even though I got all remaining errors correct (15+) and I was well qualified for the position. The good news is I was offered 2 positions from other organizations within days of leaving the interview site. And I'm very happy in my current role. Though I liked the Foundation Center, I wasn't very excited about the position. I was frustrated at first but not being interviewed ended up being a blessing in disguise.
