      Candidatura

Candidatei-me online. Fui entrevistado pela Foundever (Chennai) em fev. de 2021

      Entrevista

I got a call from the company after applying for the position of Communication Trainer. I was told that I would be interviewed by two people through Microsoft Teams. I was asked to prepare a presentation on communication/grammar which was to be presented at the time of the interview. I was ready with my presentation and was looking forward to the meeting. The interview took place at the scheduled time and day. It started smoothly but few minutes into the meeting things started to get a bit awkward. One of the interviewers asked me if I have any experience working in a BPO as a Communication Trainer. Since I had, I responded in affirmation and explained my activities and role in the BPO I have worked for recently. However, I was asked the same question again and again to which I gave a more detailed and relevant response about my experience in the industry and field. Despite me clearly stating the facts of my experience as a Communication Trainer in a BPO environment, I was told that they were looking for somebody who has experience in a BPO as a Communication Trainer. I was also asked if I know a particular software for evaluating the performances of employees in a BPO. I was honest and said that I haven’t used it so far but gave assurance to the interviewers that I can learn and adapt to it quickly as I have worked with different companies and have adapted to their systems/software over the past 15 years. However, they wound up the interview, which was supposed to be for 45 minutes (as mentioned in the mail), in about 20 minutes, and most of the time went in asking the same question again and again despite the responses being well-articulated. They concluded that I am not a fit for the position as they are looking for someone with relevant experience in a BPO industry (in spite of me repeatedly telling them about my relevant experience) working with particular software (which I am sure is not rocket science) to measure the performances of people. And the most interesting part here is, I was not asked to give the presentation I have prepared for them as requested in the interview call email. So, they rejected me on the spot due to my ‘lack of relevant experience and knowledge’ for the role without even seeing my presentation which I have prepared for them upon their request in the mail. Strangely, I found the interviewers contradicting themselves because, at the beginning of the session, one of the interviewers suggested that instead of applying for a position like Communication Trainer I should be applying for more senior roles like a Training Manager. They also added that my experience and knowledge are too broad and vast. Therefore, the truth is, they rejected me on the grounds of being ‘too senior’ for the position. It looks like the interviewers made up their minds even before interviewing me and wanted to somehow close my case by giving some vague reasons. The company should have gone through my resume and then taken a call to interview me or not rather than conduct an awkward interview and reject me for obscure reasons. Even if they happen to interview a candidate who they feel is too senior for the role they should have dealt with the situation politely with effective and honest communication rather than misleading a hopeful and potential candidate. The whole experience was awkward, disheartening, and unnecessary.
