      Candidatura

Candidatei-me online. O processo levou 3 semanas. Fui entrevistado pela Frolic Pet Services (Des Moines, WA) em abr. de 2024

      Entrevista

I interviewed first on the phone, and then in person. On the phone was totally normal, and the in person interview felt good too. However, at the end of the hour and half conversation I was introduced to one of their trainers and was told I was going to take a dog on a walk with her. This was not discussed at any point prior to or during the interview. I was unsure if they were teaching me or testing me. It was uncomfortable, too, because the trainer had leashed the dog on the front of the harness and on the back of it. We were both holding a leash for the dog, I had never done this before and I didn't feel it was a conducive situation for my experience to be analyzed (for reference I have been walking dogs for 3 years and have walked around 100 pups). The trainer was giving me tips/showing me a techniques and trying to give me scenarios for me to practice them. There wasn't much feedback or constructive criticism, the little amount that was offered pertained more to small details (like if I held my hands at my abdomen instead of my belly) and not about how well I had executed what was asked of me. After maybe 20 minutes we walked back to the office (which is in a house in a neighborhood) and as I was about to open the door the trainer stopped me abruptly to tell me I had to let the dog in a certain way. Again, never discussed prior to this moment. She told me to turn around and make the dog sit before entering, and when I did so her only comment was that my back wasn't totally parallel to the door. After this I had another brief conversation with the interviewer and she said they would be in contact in a few days as they had other applicants to interview. I never heard back from them, I emailed them about 10 days after the interview just to follow up. They replied after a few days and said I hadn't gotten the position, but the position they said I didn't get was a different one than I interviewed for. I had applied twice (once on Glassdoor and once on the Frolic site after not hearing back about the Glassdoor position). The Glassdoor position was for the north end of Seattle team, but the position I interviewed for was the Des Moines/Kent area team (which is the position I applied for on Frolic's site). They said I didn't get the north end position, and at that point I didn't even follow up about the one I interviewed for because it was kind of like pulling teeth to get answers from them. Overall it turned out to be very off-putting, I liked the people who interviewed me, the few employees I met, and of course the dogs were the best! It's okay if they didn't want to hire me but I would've appreciated clearer communication from them at multiple points along the way.
