Without a doubt the worst experience I have ever had for an on-site interview. They flew me out, hired a chauffeur for me, and then interview in the AM. The interview lasted a total of 45 minutes!!! 45 minutes & I asked questions for about 10 of them. The first process was HR recruiter reaching out. She was very nice. Second, she reached out for a Skype/Web-Ex interview with the hiring manager & the other employee in this particular department. The next day they called & wanted to schedule an on-site interview. Third, the HR recruiter scheduled the flight in and out. My flight to Louisville was dreadful because it was delayed 2 hours in Chicago. They never gave me the contact of the chauffeur that was to pick me up at the Louisville airport. Had to reach out to HR recruiter at 10 pm at night & hope she is reading her emails. Luckily she must have been & I called the chauffeur. The issue was the driver wasn't checking the flights & didn't pick me up at the airport. I got in at 1:30 am & had to get a cab to the hotel that was 8 miles away. Got about 6 hours of sleep before the interview where another chauffeur picked me up in the AM. The interview lasted a total of 45 minutes. I asked if I was going to interview anyone else & looked at them with a "Are you serious?" look when they said no & that there was no tour of the facility. There were 4 people on the panel: Two of the guys I already interviewed with, the companies CEO (the ENTIRE company!), and a sales rep for the team. Really? I am going to have an interview with the companies CEO in the room but the entire on-site interview lasts less than the flight from Lansing to Chicago? I am not even waiting till they give me an answer before writing this. I know many of my classmates at MSU likely are interviewing for this position & want to give my opinion before they go in the process. The HR contact was nothing but professional & amazing, but I think she assumed these interviews last a lot longer because the scheduled flight out of Louisville was at 6 pm. I had to spend my own $75 to get a flight out of Louisville that was 4 hours earlier. Not to mention it made no sense financially for them to hire a chauffeur. The amount it would have cost them initially to go from: Airport to Hotel, Hotel to Interview, Interview to Airport likely cost 2x more than it would have for me to just rent a rental car at the airport. Then I could have actually gone around the city & see the area. Part of on-site interviews is allowing the out-of-state candidate to get a feel of the city. Forcing someone to only be able to go to the interview & the hotel shows a candidate no reason to work there if they are so cheap. This was probably one of the biggest slap in the face interviews you could ever fly into.
