Spoke with the owner. Had a very nice interview. Decided that our training theories did not mix. They seem to have a good reputation, and long lived staff. Impressed with management style.

I responded to an advertisement on Craigslist, after a few days I received a call and did a phone interview during which I was asked very basic questions about my experience with animals and attention to detail, then I was scheduled for an in-person interview. It was a few weeks before I started orientation, as the hiring manager wanted to on-board as many people at once as possible. Orientation consisted of a few hours of reviewing the employee handbook and how to log on to the various websites used by the company. I did not receive any hands on training other than being shown how to log in, where to find information on the various sites, and how to handle my timecard. The only "skills review" I encountered was a very brief verbal "what would you do in this hypothetical situation" discussion, and I was never required to actually demonstrate any skills.
They emailed me to set up a phone interview. I never got a call during the time of the interview and emailed them to reschedule. They never got back to me. I'm assuming the had already filled the position because the ad was taking down before my interview but they handled it very rudely and unprofessionally. I had talked to an HR person too so I'm surprised she handled it so poorly.
