      Entrevista

I was cold called directly by the CTO of the company Josef Levy, who seemed to be selling me the job. We had a brief discussion regarding relocation and set up a skype interview. When the time came to skype, he was not available by phone or otherwise. I also spoke to the receptionist who "could not find him". He called back 30 minutes after our scheduled time. We discussed FES contributing to the reimbursement of some interview travel costs, I was first encouraged to drive from charlotte nc to ft lauderdale, but he conceded I should research potential flights and forward him info. The next time we spoke he stated FES would only reimburse my interview costs "if I took the job". I understand if a position is budgeted to be filled locally and the $600 or so simply isn't in the budget and reimbursement would be declined. However, I have never in my career heard of this type of response and the contingency came across as coercive. Ultimately, I scheduled an interview with another company about half way to fort lauderdale and FES had asked to schedule another skype meeting with more of the "team". I provided some scheduling options and the director chose what was convenient for him. It was during a time I would be driving to the destination, so I explained I would pull over for the meeting but would be in the car. Once again, when the scheduled time came, he was not available by phone or skype. Again, I also spoke with the receptionist who was not aware of his location or the scheduled meeting. I forwarded an email to the CTO and the other intended attendee restating my availability Friday for an in person visit, then continued my drive. I received an email to reschedule that afternoon or the next morning, both times I had previously indicated I would not be available. He responded apologizing for not being back in the office by 3, when our meeting was actually at 2:30 (same as it was the first time), and commented he hadn't received the calls. It struck me this was for the benefit of the other attendee and to ignore this was the second time. to . I agreed to speak by phone and when the subject of my coming Friday came up and I began to explain I would not be comfortable driving the additional 8 hours and paying hotel costs without a firm commitment from him to be available at the stated time. Rather than hold himself accountable for being 0 for 2 in keeping our appointments while asking me to take all the risk in time and costs, he interrupted me to rudely comment he had already apologized. I'm assuming this was to create the illusion it was a single occurrence. This job was a straightforward fit for my background. I am not disgruntled, was not turned down for the job, and am highly experienced in the particular skill sets needed. I will gladly offer up my resume to prove as much, if it would save any prospective candidate from a bad situation. Because the role offered such a smooth transition and lower stress compared to my current position, I remained flexible as long as possible, but ultimately stated "we weren't a good match and hung up" . This company has no interest or understanding of standard practices in engaging with prospective employees. The CTO of the company contacts people directly, yet couldn't be bothered to use a calendar and he was disrespectful in a way that exhibited a strong sense of entitlement. His behavior would be considered unprofessional in ANY business scenario, much less putting a best foot forward in engaging talented candidates. I wouldn't expect a company that treats prospective employees so callously to show any respect for their actual employees. I also attempted to follow up on the employee review which suggested they had not been paid and that the claims on the FES website were fake. I found it was not possible to confirm any of the reference statements posted on the site. Also, in reading the positive employee reviews again, they seem blatantly similar in tone to one another and profoundly gratuitous in an way that raises red flags.

They were too disorganized to get that far.

Hello, I am very sorry to hear your experience with the interview process was disappointing. Our Engineering team is a hands on field team and emergencies can arise on site that may complicate arranging for appointments. I apologize on behalf of the team for the missed Skype appointment, although they did try to arrange a new one with you as they were interested in offering you the job. We were willing to reimburse your travel expenses under the condition that you were hired and passed the 90 day trial period, as we have done for other employees who relocated to work for FES. All our reviews are legitimate, whether positive or negative, and the employee who claims he never got paid was hired under commission based pay, and that fluctuates as the employee performs. Nevertheless, good luck in your search for a new job on behalf of all at FES
