Entrevista
I had interviewed for the full-time role of a Data Scientist at the Chevy Chase office. The interview process is pretty straight forward. I had applied online and after 3 weeks I got an email from the HR to fill up the pre-screen questions. It took more than 2 weeks for HR to reply. I was selected to move forward for the technical round with the Director of the Analytics. The questions asked to me during the technical round were regarding my projects and the methods that I used. Also lots of questions regarding machine learning algorithms. Please clear all the basics of machine learning like ROC curve, confusion matrix, XGBoost, Random forest, etc. After this round, I was given a case to solve. The case was the problem that GEICO works on. It was not that easy so I advise that start working on the case the moment it comes to you. After I submitted the case there was the last round of 2 hours with the director and his team. They grilled me more regarding all my machine learning techniques and I had to give a presentation of my case. Unfortunately, I couldn't clear the last round but overall it was a very exciting process where your knowledge is tested in the right manner.

Entrevista
HR was very patient. The whole process was smooth and fast. 4 rounds of interviews in total. The first round was ML+resume; the second was python + SQL + easy algorithm, the third round was real case machine learning models, the last round was with one of the managers and asked resume and one machine learning model.

Asked many machine learning questions such as decision tree, random forest, KNN, and Kmeans. Must know the detail of each model very well. Deep understanding of your resume, asked many details

Entrevista
Onsite technical screen had SQL and python coding questions. Format was in a double spaced google doc, which is by far the worst possible way to ask these questions. Interviewer didnt seem to understand the problems during the interview leading to confusion. GEICO, like many financial or insurance companies, have really poor interview processes in place for data science. Bottom quartile compensation = bottom quartile talent.
It was a very strenuous and long process which required a lot of time spending through multiple rounds of interviews and take home exam. Many technical questions regarding ML from multiple interviewers.
