I participated in a lengthy interview process that included multiple rounds with senior editorial leadership, in-person conversations, and substantial unpaid test work. Throughout the process, feedback was positive and timelines were discussed. Unfortunately, communication from the recruiting team ceased entirely after the final stages. Despite multiple respectful follow-ups - including after assurances that updates would be shared - I never received confirmation of a decision or formal closure on my candidacy. While I understand that hiring priorities and timelines can shift, particularly in editorial environments, the absence of follow-through after such a significant investment of time and effort felt unprofessional and disrespectful. Clear communication - even a brief update - is especially important when candidates are asked to complete extensive test work and engage in multiple interviews. I hope this is an area that GQ chooses to improve.
