The process went by somewhat quickly since applying. I applied for the role mid-June and was scheduled for my first phone screen the week after, asked general questions and moved on to the Hiring Manager shortly thereafter. Had a great interview there, and moved on to a panel with two staff members on their People Team. This interview had some behavioral, situational and role play questions. Within a day, I was moved to the Final interview stage, so assumed they were eagerly seeking someone. They even gave me one option for an interview, because of camp visits, of which I could not make but am grateful for the flexibility. They gave me a take home assessment at this point which was pretty straightforward.
Last interview was with the CEO and Hiring Manager (again), and I presented my work sample and felt the conversation went well. I was told I'd hear back by early the following week, but after a week past, it was only until I reached out that I found they were moving onto other candidates. No feedback, no follow up. I'll say, my contact with the recruiter was quick, she moved some messages to text for convenience... But here's the kicker!
Another EXTERNAL recruiter reached out to me (because of my experience and skillset) the following week suggesting I apply for the same role! The same role I had just went through a month of interviewing with! I'm happy to know that "other qualified candidates were moved forward," and that I had a chance to practice delivering action items for the organization. Truly, I was at peace and would have been content completing my conversation with my initial recruiter, but to have received a follow up from someone I've never met recruiting for the same role left me with a bad taste. I wish the organization luck on their search.
[edit 9/29] Back again! After explicitly telling the recruiter that I had already applied for this role and already did my interviews, I figured it would have ended there. After a month of that exchange, I've received two emails (about a week apart) trying to pitch me THIS role again! I originally applied for this role in June and have already done the entire process and still unsure what feedback or reservations the interviewing panel had, so I'm curious why I'm still trying to get recruited. Clearly demonstrates a lack of communication and alignment and that speaks volumes to the way programming must be organized.
