      Candidatura

Candidatei-me online. O processo levou 4 dias. Fui entrevistado pela Gearfire (Scottsdale, AZ) em fev. de 2021

      Entrevista

TLDR: Trash company with no care for non executive employees One day I got a call from the head HR lady at Gearfire asking me if I was interested in a screening for a job I applied for, I said sure and we talked for 20 minutes and everything seemed good. She said that they will offer good competitive benefits and salary and I would be moving to Scottsdale, AZ. Then she offered me an interview on the spot, a first and final interview with the IT managers and office manager, and I said yes. A few days pass and the interview starts over zoom. I am greeted by 2 IT managers, the lady from HR, and the office manager. They describe what they do at the company and the first thing they ask me is not my name or how my day is, they ask me "so do you like guns, are you fine working around them?" I was weirded out because it wasn't the above-mentioned questions, but I'm pretty apathetic to the ideas of guns so I just said no. So the interview went along and as the call went on I could tell I was grossly overqualified for the position, I had dozens of interviews at that point and this was on a whole different level of easy, to the point they were talking about movie nights at the companies and football betting pools. Then out of nowhere the manager talks about gun licensing and almost goes on a mini tangent about Obama but holds himself back from actually saying his name (just says "some of our leaders in the past struggle to help us succeed". This made the call visibly awkward, it was definitely one of the most awkward things I had ever experienced during a job interview. As the call came to an end and I had asked all my questions, everyone was saying their goodbyes and them telling me they would love to work with me and I hope I take up the offer, and at this rate, I was very much open to the offer because I had been unemployed (for a full-time job) for many months at that point. Not even an hour passes and I get a call from the HR manager, "Hi [my name] we loved your interview and think you're perfect for this role" "Great thanks I appreciate you deciding on me" "no problem, so for your benefits, you will have 9 days sick leave + PTO and 18.50 dollars an hour. Also, would it be possible to move to Scottsdale by next Monday?" "I'm sorry, is that the competitive offer? I get paid more at my part-time tech job and I get more days off. Also. that's impossible for me to pick up and move everything to the state over in 4 days. I would need to find a place to live, get a car, and manage expenses all on 18.50 an hour." (This convo was not over one call it was 3 calls but I shortened it for brevity). "Ok I can see about giving a raise, what would you like?" "For me to even consider I would say 24 dollars and more PTO for me to even move to a higher cost of life city than what I'm in now" "ok I can get back to you" *20 minutes later* "the best we can do is 19 dollars and no extra PTO" "yeah, I'm going to decline the offer, thank you for the opportunity" I feel bad for whatever person actually took the position before I had my interview the company had 2/5 stars on glassdoor and all cited toxic work culture. I can tell with how much they pushed "this company is a family "BS, that it was the exact opposite and they use that line to overwork and abuse their employees. The company helped me know my worth, and I ended up with an amazing company 2 months later that actually pays well, has great PTO, and WFH. DO NOT GO TO THIS COMPANY
