Screening from company through a phone call and email questions. General questions were asked about the experience related to job description.
This was followed up with an interview with team members over video call. The interview format was simple and they did not follow any specific process that is common with larger companies.
The interview questions did not align with job description.

Three stage interview process: started with HR phone call, followed by a virtual interview panel and then an in person panel with the same people plus other member(s) of the team

HR phone call was mainly asking about skills/experience listed on resume and describing the role, and then the panels were mainly technical knowledge questions with some situational/behavioral
Examples:
-How you would approach designing an experiment
-Explaining techniques you've listed on your resume in detail (both theory and in practice)
-Knowing concepts/theory behind whatever skills they've listed on the job listing is a plus
Someone who knows their stuff would do well in the interview, I was not that person, sadly. But the interviewers were very nice even though I was clearly inexperienced/out of my element
