      Candidatura

O processo levou 5 semanas. Fiz uma entrevista na empresa Genius Sports (New York, NY).

      Entrevista

First step was an HR interview where the company got to know me and I got to know more about the company. We talked about my experience, why I am changing my job, what I expect in terms of my employer, working conditions, salary, etc. I was asked what my ambitions are. I was told about what the company does, and they painted a vivid picture of how working there looks like. How the rest of the interview process would look was explained to me. After two weeks I was informed I made it to the next stage. This was the technical interview. I was asked about my previous experience practical and academical. Some theoretical and practical questions in line with my level. I was immediately informed I passed. Next step was a two part test. First I did test-driven pair programming with a developer over TeamViewer. Very pleasant and supportive guy. Helped when I stumbled on minor things. Second step - I was given a problem description, and I had to develop an idea of how to program it and then defend and refine it in a discussion. This involved drawing diagrams and writing pseudocode. Was informed I passed a couple of days later. Last stage was sort of a HR interview with my future supervisor and one senior colleague. More a discussion. Friendly. They explained technical details of the project, what teams I would be in, so on. Asked about my motivation and salary expectations. Got an offer a few days later. Accepted.

Candidatei-me online. O processo levou 1 dia. Fui entrevistado pela Genius Sports (Londres, Inglaterra) em jul. de 2021

      Entrevista

The first step was the Zoom interview, the guy who was mentioned in the email was not available at the time of the interview and one of his colleagues was there! It was clear that this guy is no experience at all and they have already chosen the candidate so talking with me is just a formality to say no as politely as possible without even seeing my skills! I had a very cheap and low-quality interview with this company!

      Entrevista

Recruiter sent my CV to the company and a few days later a phone interview was scheduled. At the scheduled time my phone didn't ring. After speaking with the recruiter, I was told the manager called and got no answer, so they've blamed me. On the following day a new interview was scheduled and the same thing happened, no call at the schedule time. 10 minutes past the interview time, I was sending e-mails to both my recruiter and Genius Sports and in the following day I got a reply from the recruiter saying they found a issue in whatever app they use to schedule things in there. I got no apology from the company. A day later I received another request for a interview, with only 3 or 4 hours notice but this time they actually called me. Again, not a single word about the missed interviews. I was asked about my general experience, what are my responsibilities on my current job and then the interview moved on to be more technical. I was then asked about concepts of the C# language. I didn't do very well and at the end, the interviewer asked if I wanted to hear the feedback at that moment (not sure if this is the common practice or he only did it because I mentioned I had a feeling the interview was not going so well) and I said yes. He then said that based on the interview he considered me a weak developer (he used those exact words), even for a mid-level role and that he wouldn't consider me for future roles on the company. He was very polite, even when he was bashing me, but it didn't stop me from feeling like the whole process was very unprofessional and I would hate to work there even if I was up to that guy standards.
