Standard practice and process. Initial onsite interview with a few people - lead developer, junior developer, and a project manager. Basic technical questions. We discussed tech debt, and software engineering concepts. There was a bit of white-boarding on cloud concepts and using message queues. Companies these days seem so excited on this /new/ concept. Whenever I tell them this message pump concept has existed in Windows since before 3.1, they seem stunned and that every windows engineer has been using these ideas for years and years. I was invited back the following week for a second interview with a different panel. The senior dev's were not sure where to start and how to ask interview questions. Totally under prepared. I tried to ask them open ended questions such as their most used design patterns, but these questions were lost on them.
I followed up with a few emails, but there was no formal reply or feedback. This was the most disappointing. Seemed like an OK company to be employed with a range of energy projects.
