My experience interviewing with Gerber Children's Wear in Greenville was disappointing and felt like a waste of time. This was my second time interviewing with the company. During both interview processes, I was left with the impression that the outcome may have already been decided before external candidates were interviewed. I arrived on time for my scheduled interview, only to wait while other interviewers joined virtually. Several team members were late, causing delays and creating an unorganized first impression. Instead of a well-prepared interview process, it felt as though candidates' time was not being respected. During the interview, I was given a tour of the sample department and observed what appeared to be a highly disorganized operation. The discussion focused heavily on challenges within the department and the need for someone to help improve processes and support existing staff. Based on the conversation and my experience, I believed I was well-qualified for the role and could provide the support they were seeking. After not being selected, I requested feedback regarding why I was not chosen despite meeting the qualifications. No meaningful explanation was provided. Candidates invest significant time preparing, interviewing, and taking time away from work and family commitments. The least a company can do is provide professional communication and constructive feedback. Overall, the interview process felt disorganized, lacked transparency, and left me questioning whether external candidates were being seriously considered. I would encourage applicants to carefully consider whether the time investment is worthwhile.
