The intro call with the product manager was promising, and I was excited to proceed to the tech interview. However, the tech interview completely changed my opinion about the company. The interview seemed less focused on evaluating a candidate's fit for the specific role and more on trick questions. For example, I was asked about what is a pointer in Python—despite Python not having pointers. Questions like these seemed designed to catch me off guard rather than assess my skills. There was no focus on my previous practical experience. The tech lead did not introduce himself at the beginning; what is his experience and role at the company - we exchanged brief greetings, and then he immediately started asking technical questions. The topics were random and lacked cohesion, jumping from soft skills to highly specific frontend or backend questions. Overall, the interview felt impersonal. I didn't feel valued as a potential contributor but rather as just another brick in the wall who needs to prove their worth. The interview was of average difficulty, but the questions are random and can catch you off guard.

Only initial stage with engineering director. Friendly and nice chat, said there were a lot of applicants and just him managing them so no timeline on hearing back. Never heard anything back after that.
