In May 2019 I was contacted by Deepmind to join an interview at the London office. As soon as I replied, they informed me that 1. the interview would be the next day and 2. it would be an all day commitment and a combination of group interviews and one to one conversations. I was surprised that even Deepmind would have such a blind spot on diversity and inclusion practice.
Best bit - we did get a free lunch, and I had a great chat with some researchers. In hindsight, I wish I’d sacked off the rest of the interview and made friends with them for the day.
