I first applied on the corporate webpage and didn't receive any feedback for several weeks so then I called one of the local offices. The secretary got me in contact with who I needed to speak to and setup and interview. Several days later I came in for an interview in May 2013. Had a one on one interview with the foreman. He told me that your always going to be on-call and work approx 70-80 hours a week but it can exceed up to 120 hours a week and you can get 3 scheduled days off a month. He suggested that I pickup my CDL license or CDL Permit within the following weeks. Must pass background, Drug, and Alcohol test and can be tested at any time. At that time I went for an interview they were not hiring but told me to keep in contact within the next couple of months. In early October 2013 I get a phone call from the foreman and asked me if I was still interested and if he could run my application again which I said yes. In the meantime, I was told if I haven't already done so to pickup my CDL Class A permit which I did and to pick up a pair of steel toe boots with metatarsal protection. I've never worked in the oil & gas industry and had no experience in heavy equipment, working on call so my first impression is that I'm probably not going to get hired but to my surprise I did get hired. A lot of oil & gas companies require one to have some type of experience in order to even be considered for an entry level position.
