I was referred to the recruiting team by an employee. The entire interview process consisted of an introductory phone screen, a department screen, a take home assignment, onsite + presentation of the take home, and call with the Director. I found the majority of my interviewers to be intelligent and well-prepared, asking specific questions that would derive real value and data points for evaluation. The real disappointment was the communication (or lack thereof) with the recruiter. I made it through the entire interview process, and had to follow up multiple times to get feedback (which was positive until after the final stage) or get the next step of the process scheduled. At various times communication stalled for a full week, and I felt that I was a nuisance having to reach out multiple times. After my final interview, I eventually received a considerate rejection email. After exchanging a few emails after that (to discuss another role), communication dropped off completely. The recruiter eventually followed up two business-weeks later to close out the process with a buzzword-laden email. As a former Greenhouse user, I was extremely excited about the prospect of working with the team. After this experience, however, my impression of the company, specifically the recruiting organization, is quite negative. As someone who's been a recruiter, I would never dream of treating any of my candidates like this. I imagine they have a lot on their plate, however as a company in the recruiting space, it's disappointing to see that Greenhouse doesn't hold themselves to a very high standard.
