I actually believe they looked me up on Linkedin and emailed me for a next day staffing agency "interview" (they twisted my arm into a next day interview instead of asking me a convenient time to talk). I do not remember applying to this agency. This is a very young staffing company still trying to find its way around the headhunting business (founded in 2013). The particular job they wanted to prequalify me for was a chemistry technician position at a small company in the southeast. Throughout the process, I spoke to or exchanged emails with 3 different staffers. I felt they were very raw and amateurish as compared to other more polished headhunters I have met in the industry. The word, "um" was repeated many times in the first part and in the second part, they were not able to articulate what they specifically meant by "organometallics" (was this not an organic chemist position and not an inorganicchemist position?). The followup thank you email was outright rude. These people seem straight out of college from soft disciplines like sociology or business and seem not to know what they are doing. That was my impression, atleast. I never place alot of faith in staffing agencies although I have come accross some very good technical headhunters (usually they have technical degrees and industry work experience and know what they are talking about). In the last part of my interview, besides the organometallics question, I was asked about my immediate family situation and other companies I had applied to or interviewed with leaving me with a really bad impression.
