Very poor interview process. Robotic questioning, not engaged or even pretending to be. When asked about the work environment I like, I mentioned I enjoy working within teams and collaborating and they replied to say Gu is not a place I can bother people because they have important work to do. Sounds completely bonkers as an environment.

Entrevista
First stage went fairly standard, but after came the second stage, and with it the most insane task I've witnessed in a case study. Basically, you are asked to analyse a full year sales performance with a client, using the real EPOS data provided, and present back a complete promotional plan for the next year, using the uplifts you measured as a part of your prior analysis (accounting for things like secondary space that is outlined in a previous promo plan that they provide as a literal image, and that you have to overlay on top of the EPOS data with the dates not matching, and multiple different promo price points throughout the year, meaning that the only somewhat accurate way to measure the uplift is manually go through every promotion on every SKU, and record it) and to provide a cash up of the volume & value uplift that this new promo plan of yours will bring. All of that on top of the SWOT analysis that you have to do as a first part of that assignment. And somehow presented in 15 minutes with all the methodology used clearly outlined and questioned.

You have been given an EPOS data for one of our retailers for the last year. You should consider what promotion mechanics deliver the best uplifts, our competitor set, key events and anything else that you think is relevant for us to consider. Limit your presentation to 20 minutes, present a commercial evaluation of your plan, showing forecasted volume & value growth vs. previous year. Consider different segments and strongest performers on promotion. Show understanding of uplifts at different price mechanics and use this to prepare your 2024 recommendations. Where there is missing information, make sensible assumptions (including competitor activity/promotions).
