I was referred to HCSS by a friend who used to work there. He described the company as a small business positioning itself to grow bigger.
After submitting my resume, I was informed that the company will not look at my profile until I pass a math exam. I was surprised, since I had not expected it for people applying for senior positions and then there were many stories on the internet, mostly on Glassdoor, decrying the whole interview process at HCSS.
So with some hesitation, I went ahead to give the test.
Seriously, all this fuss from applicants about a 8th grade level test! I am no math wiz, but it took me 30 min to finish the test and review my answers. I guess I did OK on the test since I got called for an interview.
The interview itself comprised of meeting executives & my future boss, some 'prove it to me' tasks, some candid conversations. It was challenging but fun. I took the whole process seriously and I got the offer.
The whole process, took about 3 weeks.
I have now been with the company a few short months, and I am very happy to be here. Just like any growing organization, HCSS also has areas of improvement, but I have not worked at any place that was so employee centric. The organization demands hard work, but rewards you well for it.
That, I think is the reason why the interview process is little harder than at most organizations - HCSS wants to hire smart people (who know 8th grade math), want to work hard and want to play hard!
