The interview process began pretty straightforward. I was contacted by a recruiter of theirs on my interest in the position. The recruiter mentioned that the salary budget for this role was currently under review, implying room for negotiation. In the initial phone call, I discussed the pay I desire ($23-$25 an hour with a commission structure). I got the sense that the recruiter hadn't shared their notes with the rest of the team interviewing because I was asked the same basic three questions at each interview stage. In my last interview scheduled by the recruiter, the interviewer made a comment about not even needing to meet with me in order to make their decision. I felt this instance represented the lack of collaboration and organization on the company's side. I received a verbal offer for $22.50 an hour without commission mentioned and reached out to negotiate. The recruiter seemed immediately annoyed and referenced that my desired range began at $23 an hour. The recruiter then followed up with a commission structure, however this information was omitted from the written offer letter. I declined the offer via email and was subsequently copied on internal email communication regarding another candidate; talk about second hand embarrassment! This experience was one of the most disorganized interview processes I've been a part of. I can't imagine how they operate internally if this is the first impression given. Beware of the bait and switch!
