Initial communication with the company (via phone) was somewhat on the fly; they called me and I wasn't really prepared to talk with them, so I didn't think I did well. I did not hear anything for a few weeks, even though I followed the phone conversation immediately with a follow-up letter, detailing my skills that I didn't mention on the phone (because I was caught off-guard by the initial phonecall). In fact the job-posting disappeared. However, a few months later the job posting reappeared. I followed up with another letter, inquiring about the re-posting, and the same HR person who'd called me initially called me again -- this time for a one-to-one interview with a VP in the PR department. We had a good 15-minute interview; he was receptive to my ideas for marketing BCBS more proactively. I felt there was a good give-and-take. However, salary was not mentioned, and I did not feel it was appropriate to ask. We left on good terms. Three days later, the HR person (same as before) gave me a call and offered me the job.
