Applied online through indeed. First had a phone interview with the branch which was easy enough. Asked questions like ‘why do you want to be a carer?’ And ‘do you know what the role involves’. Was told over the phone that I had passed and was scheduled in for a face to face interview. This was a one to one interview with one of the managers at the branch. Again, quite laid back. Made me feel comfortable. This lasted about an hour and they asked questions like ‘what would you do if the patient wasn’t answering the door’ and ‘what if they refused medication?’ Overall, a good interview experience. Was told a few days later that I had passed and I was booked into my training. This lasted 3 days and involved practical work e.g. putting on catheters, using slide sheets on a bed, and also written activities. We learned about first aid and health and safety. Trainer was lovely and so was my training group. I was in a small group of 5 other women who were just starting the job, which was nice as we were all able to support and encourage each other. I am going to my orientation meeting today to hopefully arrange my shadowing before I start my new job! Overall a very positive interview experience. Probably the best, most informative interview experience I have ever had.
