The hiring process began with a recruiter interview over Zoom, followed by an in-person interview at the location. The in-person portion included a one-hour massage demo and interviews with both the General Manager and Assistant General Manager. During the interview, everything appeared to go well and I was told they would follow up with next steps. After a week passed without any communication, I reached out to the recruiter and was told that management had not yet made a decision. Based on the interaction and lack of transparency, it seemed unlikely that they intended to move forward but were unwilling to communicate that directly. One concerning aspect of the experience was the massage demo itself. The lead massage therapist who received the demo appeared extremely stressed, which raised concerns for me about the work environment and culture within the spa. Overall, the process felt very corporate and impersonal, and the communication could have been handled more transparently.

I was recruited by someone out of Dallas for the Houston spa. When I got to the Houston spa for the interview, the person I was interviewing with hadn’t even read my resume and Didn’t know anything about me. She had nit been given my resume. I wasn’t given instructions on how to find the spa or where to park and it is hard to find,. I had to call more than once while I was waiting outside trying to find the front door because they weren’t answering the phone. The spa was chaotic and seemed to be in disrepair. The lights weren’t working in one of the bathroom stalls so they had candles burning to provide light in that stall. The massage room to which I was taken for an interview was shabby. The stool leather/covering was peeling off. The spa manager told me my pay would double after my first hour. I was confused. She actually went on to explain that the pay would go from $25 an hour to $35 an hour. I guess that’s what she thinks doubling is. I declined to provide a sample Massage, said I wasn’t comfortable and didn’t think it was a good fit, and I left.
