Well, the interview was scheduled through a consultancy and after a number of follow ups and continuous calls from them, I thought of attending the interview for PHP developer. The consultancy girl has scheduled the interview at 10.00 AM, given me a POC and I reached their office at around 9.30 AM. Only securities were there at that time and they asked me to wait in a very small conference room. I waited till 10.20 AM and one guy came and asked me whether I am for QA interview or back end interview. I told that it’s a PHP developer interview and POC is the guy ‘X’. He called the POC and seemed like he is not coming to the office / late.
This new guy came to the room and asked for my Resume. I understood the they didn’t even go through my resume and not at all prepared to evaluate me. I sent him it in the email and he has given me 2 DS problems and started looking at my resume while I am doing that. He went through it and started asking some college viva kind of questions. The questions where like what is REST API, what the functions like usort() and ksort() do etc. He was expecting some definitions from me. He never asked me a case study/how to architecture a real world system/OOP concepts/anything from my actual work experience. He never explained me about what they do and what are their expectation from the candidate. I had already done couple or more interviews by that time and others were quite professional and punctual. They never asked me for my resume when I was in their premise and they all were well prepared.
At least be prepared when you interview a candidate. No comments on the questions were asked, it’s upto them. The hospitality was also bad and I was not offered a bottle of water or cup of coffee. Overall it was a very bad experience.
