They responded to my application by email. Then a phone interview was arranged, with HR.
This went over my resume, and the usual trinity of
- Why are you interested in this company (aka HootSuite)?
- Why this role? (i.e. what attracts you to this role?)
- How much? (i.e. what dough/money are you dreaming of?)
She did ask about my knowledge of the various skills they were interested in.
They had 1 iOS developer already, and were/are seeking another.
There were no questions about my activities/involvement in social networks.
She was friendly, and concluded by saying that there will be some technical questions in the technical/next interview.
When the latter came, it was with the hiring manager.
He made it clear that they were in no rush to hire!
They have 200 people, and have been growing quickly.
He explained how their software fits within the market and their customers, and some overview of the plans for it.
Some questions:
- What is the most difficult (or annoying?) thing about Objective C?
- What is the most difficult (or annoying?) thing about iOS?
- Where do you think you'd fit best within iOS development?
- What would you improve, especially in the mobile version?
- Why are you leaving your current position?
