Entrevista
I got an interview through an agency so some aspects may differ to usual however the member of staff who assessed me was very easygoing and laid back. The first thing he did was show me around the site and introduced me to some of the management team. I then had to complete a written assessment concerning Working time directive (8/10 needed to pass) and the highway code (25/30 needed to pass). After that, I was shown some safety training videos as well as a video about using the tackogrph. Then, we went to one of the trucks ands I had a chance to practise using my Digicard. I was asked to show how I would perform a walk around check of the vehicle before we both got in it. Finally, I was asked to complete a 1hr driving assessment with the member of staff. It was laid back, not like a proper driving test, but he directed me around a local route including dual carriageway, motorway and some of the main cross roads and roundabouts. He told me afterwards that he was mostly assessing my use of speed, how I used space on the road and how I interacted with other drivers. Once we got back to the depot, the member of staff got out of the car and watched me reverse into one of the loading bays. After that, the assessment was concluded and we met up with the transport manager to discuss a job offer. As long was you can stay calm, have good highway knowledge and are a careful/considerate driver, the interview will fly by.

They asked that I bring my CPC card, digicard and they ran a check on my driving license
A number of us were dragged through 3 rounds of interviews (x1 call, x1 video and x1 F2F with the CEO) as well as x3 tests only to be told that no one would be recruited. A total waste of time, energy and a lack of respect for candidates’ time. If a company can treat candidates this way then it’s a dodged bullet in my eyes.
