I was able to directly speak with our VP and my current Regional manager about our men's category. When I looked at my FMR (field merchandising report), it showed that we did not have any men's product in the top 30 items that we had sold for the previous month. Only women's product had shown up. This told me that we were giving too much real estate to one category that was severely under performing. My men's business, at the time, was doing less that 20% of the business. In the store we sell women, body, and men. All adult. So, we need to drastically change the way our customer shops in the store. As a result, we have seen our men's category actually rise up to 26% of business now that we have re-visualized the store and all of men's is in one area of the store. With that said, since men's business picked up, we did see a slight boost in overall sales as well because our female customer could easily shop for her and linger a bit more, while our male customer could grab what he needed and go.
