Disrespectful of Candidates’ Efforts I applied for an Industrial Designer position at HUDL and was asked to complete a design assignment while working full-time. I complied, expecting at least some feedback on my submission. Instead, after completing the task, I only received a generic rejection—no explanation, no discussion, nothing. When a company asks candidates to invest their time and skills for free, the least they can do is provide constructive feedback. The way this was handled showed a lack of professionalism and respect for candidates’ efforts. Future applicants should be cautious about investing unpaid work into their hiring process unless clear expectations are set regarding how submissions will be evaluated and whether feedback will be provided.
