During my interview the HR employee insistently and persistently questioned me about my current salary, even after I gave the range of what I was looking for. Not only did it give me a very bad impression of the organization (who wants to work with someone who gives you the first impression of a bully?), that practice is actually illegal in some states for furthering salary discrimination. When asked why I wanted to work there, I was ridiculed for sharing my personal story of adopting my own dog because “everyone loves dogs” and “if that’s it, that’s not much”.
