I spent almost two months and went through five rounds of interviews for this opportunity.
I was originally reached out to by an outside recruiter about the opportunity. I was not actively seeking a new position but entertained things because the position and company sounded interesting. Over the next several weeks I progressed through video interviews with a Senior Manager, an HR Business Partner, a Director of HR, a VP, and then finally another VP.
The final interview was particularly disappointing. The interview started a few minutes later than the appointment and ended up not being a video conference like the invite prepared me for. What followed were a surprisingly aggressive and negative line of questioning about my background— which was unexpected, as prior interviews I had with their team all were very positive. There were frequent moments where I was interrupted to would interrupt redirect me on what I was saying.
Ultimately that last interview was the reason I was rejected for the role. I had an excellent interview right before with the business and I felt like there would be a great partnership there. It’s a shame this process was so lengthy and unorganized… there really is no need to have two VPs interview for a Recruiter (non-manager) role.
