If you have two sets of data pulled from the same source, how can their be two different stories for the data.

My answer was that if they were coming from the same exact source it would be impossible to be different unless the parameters of the query were different or you were filtering it in some way. I was told that was not correct. Apparently the correct answer he said was if he asks his data analysts the dollar amount of mortgages in a specific time, it would be a different answer than if you asked the bank branches. The reason is because the bank branches include all mortgages including re-finances while the data analysts only include new mortgages and no refinances.
