Very thorough but fair. Lengthy application process requiring two references, a detailed research plan, academic CV, and covering letter. Two interviews, one technical with potential supervisor and another with industry partner. Was made a conditional offer and later verified my qualifications officially,

Can you explain your current or previous research project?

I talked about my undergraduate thesis on finite element simulations, and he asked some probing follow-up questions—nothing too aggressive, but clearly meant to test how deeply I understood the fundamentals. At one point, he pulled up a diagram of a B-pillar crash scenario and asked how I might model the dynamic response or optimise it for crashworthiness. I explained my ideas using surrogate models and acknowledged some limitations.

1 hour of technical disccussion with 2 academics, 1 supervior and 1 department appointed reviewer. The interview is slightly hard, because continuous digging the technical and acamedic contents of proposed topics.
