I had high hopes for this position. It was five interviews total (recruiter, supervisor, team member, and then two technical interviews with the VP of Strategy and Analytics, and the Senior Director of Community Enablement). I enjoyed meeting with everyone; they were smart, articulate, and enthusiastic about the company. Communication was great until ...
I finished interviewing and then crickets. They kept putting me off, week by week: we're still interviewing candidates, we'll have a decision by the end of next week, and then the end of the following week, and now it's been five weeks and nothing. Every time I've inquired about where things stand, I hear "we'll get back in touch soon, thanks for your patience," but then nothing. I've stopped contacting them at this point.
The amount of time I spent prepping for interviews was significant. I really wanted the job. But the fact that I've been strung along and can't even get a simple rejection or solid update is unprofessional. I did five interviews but no one can take a minute to send me an email?
I wish people would remember what it's like to interview for a job and then maybe there would be some honesty, transparency, and just a basic level of respect. I was hoping they were different, but they turned out to be just like all the other companies who think ghosting candidates is acceptable. It's not.
