I interviewed with Roger from HR who was polite and easy to talk with. He then forwarded me on to a second interview with the VP of Operations Engineering who was also polite but seemed rushed and in a hurry to end the interview. The second interview lasted about 20 minutes and I thought I had somehow bombed it but received an offer about 3 hours later. However after nearly 3 weeks of paperwork and doing my background check I was asked for more details about my credit report and then about the gap in my employment caused by COVID, something that we discussed in the interviews. Suddenly they withdrew their offer after I had turned down interviews and at least two other offers since I was told my background check was fine and just waiting approval by higher ups. I was called on a Friday about my background check and received an email on Monday about my employment history but was not informed of the decision to withdraw the offer until Thursday at the end of day. I have now lost 3 weeks of time and potentially offers that wouldn't have led me on. Normally I would say thank you for the opportunity but it should not take a week to decide those items were deal breakers and I could have been well on my through the hiring process with a company that actually had some respect for me and my time.
