I applied through the career page on their website. They were fast to respond and the tone was quite pleasant. I was treated like a real human being, and not just like another faceless candidate. In order to qualify for an interview, I had to complete a written test. Fortunately, I passed the test and later I was interviewed by the founder. We talked about their code base and the culture of the organization. It was obvious how important it was for him to find a developer who was motivated by the right reasons, and who had a genuine passion for writing the best possible code. We discussed the big difference in applying for "this job" versus just "a job". I didn't get the job, but ended up learning a lot about owner's mindset, so that's definitely something that I will be bringing up at my next interview.

The interview process was smooth and meaningful. The company made sure that I not only had the soft cultural skills to work in their team, but also the necessary hard, technical skills. It was vital for management that there was a match match between myself (as a person) and the company culture. Also, it was important for them that this job had to be "the" job for me, as opposed to just "a" job. It was unlike any other recruitment process I’ve ever tried (in the good sense!) and even though I didn't land the job, I was glad to have applied.
