The first interview with HR was respectful and covered my experience, skills and education. Subsequent contacts went well as well. The interview with the hiring manager was interesting. A lot of leadership type questions but I did not feel the hiring manager was really listening. He would confirm and restate my answer and ask the same question again later - not to verify information but felt that he was just going through the motion. He was very much interested in where my family came from and when he found out that I was born outside of the US, he asked ‘how did your family end up here’? The company is Christian and conservative base which I respected and was drawn to. But the questions were not only illegal but irrelevant to the job.
