I had recruiter and tech interviews, both were friendly. The tech interview consisted of theoretical questions and a discussion of my experience. I would say it was easy. I didn't proceed to the home assignment due to other circumstances, but the impression was good overall.

Entrevista
Several rounds. HR was normal HR stuff, likeable person. Then came the "technical". I was told i would be asked about SQL. They focused on knowing how do sql joins work. There was around 0 questions related to security, and around 100% questions related to software development. Sql injections? Who cares. Sql joins? OH YEA give me. This was already red flag, but i kept at it. Then there was some homework task. Once i saw the "homework" task, i threw in the towel. Task consisted of calculating some cryptographic O(n), and then calculating the "speed" at which it consists of, and suggesting improvements to the cryptography. Again, security? Hello?
O yea, they also do this on a "daily" basis. To properly answer "homework" would consist of a team of 7 people working for a month. Or well, throwing the AI slop at them. Decided neither and stopped it there. They should definitelly re-write the job descriptions as interview was totally unrelated to the job description.

Interview Process Felt More Like a Screening for Compliance Than for Skill
Pros: The initial technical discussion with a scientist was professional and focused on relevant experience. It reflected genuine technical interest and expertise.
Cons: The subsequent interview stage, focused on administrative topics, felt misaligned with expectations for a research fellowship. The conversation centered almost exclusively on compensation, with little discussion of the candidate’s skills or research direction. A compensation offer roughly 30% below market average was presented early, suggesting the process prioritized cost control over technical capability.
When I inquired about how responsibilities might scale with higher compensation, the topic was closed without discussion. The overall tone of the process left the impression that the company was seeking candidates who could be directed narrowly, rather than independent collaborators. Additionally, follow-up communication promised by a specific date did not occur.
The stated ambition of an “AI Fellowship” program seems to exceed its current resources — mentorship availability and access to compute were unclear.
Advice to Management: A more balanced, two-way interview would attract stronger research talent. Focusing on technical alignment, transparent expectations, and professional follow-through would strengthen the credibility of the fellowship and improve the candidate experience.
