Initially several phone calls with in house recruiter and key personnel in the hiring tree. Recruiter and staff members all very approachable and shared information about the position, company and surrounding area(re: relocation). This was followed by a full day interview on site with several people and WeBex with a couple of individuals not available on the interview day. Feedback was given promptly. All personnel were friendly and overall the only way the experience could have been better is if the position was offered to me.

My interview process for the position of Medical Safety Officer at Intuitive Surgical was a very positive experience. I had been working with Intuitive Surgical for about 1 1/2 to 2 years as a proctor, instructor, and speaker. I had become quite familiar and comfortable with the culture at Intuitive Surgical. I was impressed by the high level of importance of patient safety while working to create a system to minimize the patient impact from a surgical procedure by challenging the status quo. As a surgeon, with more than 4 years of experience working with the da Vinci surgical systems, I was more than comfortable with the high quality of the product and services from Intuitive Surgical. I was very excited when I first read the job description for the Medical Safety Officer position. Prior applying for the position, I reviewed the requirements of the job to ensure that both the position and I were a good fit. After deciding that my skill set would be a good fit for the position, I submitted my application on-line. Additionally, I let some of the staff at Intuitive Surgical, with whom I had developed friendships, know that I had applied for the position of Medical Safety Officer. The first step was a phone interview with the hiring manager. This occurred about 2 weeks after completion the on-line application. The phone interview was very conversational and informative. The next step was a day of 1:1 interviews at Intuitive Surgical's Sunnyvale, CA campus. Everyone that I interviewed with was very well prepared. The interviews were once again very conversational. Everyone that I met with was very pleasant and respectful. I had the pleasure to meet and speak with individuals from numerous departments ranging from product development, product quality, and regulatory compliance. I was very impressed with everyone that I met with on the day of my interview. After my interviews were completed, the next steps in the process were reviewed with me prior to leaving Sunnyvale. Once Intuitive Surgical completed the interview process with all of the candidates for the position, I received a phone call from the hiring manager who offered my the position. Overall, the process from initial on-line application to job offer took about 9 weeks.
